Message from the President
Let me, at the outset, thank you - members of the Academy - for the confidence shown by your having elected me as President of the International Academy of Comparative Law.
It is an honour and a privilege to preside over the Academy.
Of course, I still have what we in the US tend to call a « day job ». That is as professor of law at Columbia University School of Law in New York. I also teach regularly at the College d'Europe (Bruges) and at the Universities of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) and II (Panthéon-Assas) and at the Institut des Sciences Politiques (Paris).
Currently, I am the Tocqueville - Fulbright Distinguished Chairholder at the University of Paris I.
In this short message, I would like first to remind you of the Academy's mission and then its current organization and related news. Finally, I would like to turn to what I think are the large lines of the evolution that the Academy should follow in these times of rapid change, and at least raise some of the issues we should be thinking about in that regard. ...next George A.
